What's wrong
We're trying to design a new model of society that better answers to human needs and that allows to live a life full of joy and fulfilment. But what's wrong with current society, which makes us aspire to create a new one?
I think these are the main limitations of our current society:
PEOPLE
It may seem like a provocation, but actually the main reason why we have so many troubles is that we're not sufficiently evolved - especially on a spiritual level - for living peacefully and happily. I'm not saying we all are like that, but the presence of strongly individualistic and self-centered behaviors, create imbalances, feeding bad moods and facilitating, as a result, similar behaviors. Everyone should be responsible and advocate of personal growth, but it is important that we have the presence of an environment and a system of education that incentive and facilitate such behavior, instead of hinder it.
MONEY
Still, the real problem is not much the money, but how it is used and what people are willing to do to in order to get it. We give it too much importance, so that today not having it could means to die of hunger or preventable diseases. Why is it more important than life and the health of a person? We transformed it from a medium to ad end, leading humans, other living beings and the nature that surrounds all of us, into the background. Surely this is a serious mistake, it is therefore necessary to give a new and fairer value for money.
ECONOMY AND WORK
The trade is linked to the principle of supply and demand, according to which the market price tends to converge towards the real price of the good / service. This, in theory, leads to a optimal allocation of resources, with consequent benefits for the whole society. The reality, however, differs from the theory for various reasons; the lack of a reliable system of information accessible to everyone, the large differences of the purchasing power and the absence of perfect circulation of the workforce, create huge market distortions, making it inefficient. Part of this inefficiency can be easily extrapolated from the unemploiment data, which represent percentages of unused labor. We find ourselves in a paradoxical situation in which there are many people who work too much and just as many who do not have work ...
I think that, in an ideal society, everybody should work, less.
I believe that what you read are the main factors responsible for the majority of today's problems. If you notice, from petty crime, to big mafias, through some unscrupulous corporations, they all stem from limitations related to one or more of these factors. They are composed of people unevolved, inactive or unhappy, living in a society that gives the utmost importance to money and encourages individualism. But without going to these extreme cases, even the daily problems of all of us have the same origins. Too much work or too little, difficulty to earn money or to pay a mortgage, little time to devote to ourselves or to the people we love... even the smaller or bigger health-related problems often come from a wrong lifestyle and/or an unhealthy environment, not to mention many countries commonly referred to as "developing", where the extreme poverty of most of the people, leads to much more serious problems than the ones we face.
